The client
Launched in 2005 as a newspaper for English-speaking people in Florence, The Florentine has the aim of keeping its readers updated on the latest news of the city. The newspaper is now the point of reference for the entire English-speaking community of the city.
The Florentine is currently published 11 times a year and is distributed free of charge from more than 150 spots in Florence. It counts around 10k copies per month and thousands of subscribers from all around the world.

The project
With the increasing growth of the digital traffic, The Florentine deemed it appropriate to completely revamp its website. We analyzed user flows and developed a user friendly and modern layout, in line with the major international newspapers.

Development
The new website has a WordPress back office, while several custom blocks have Gutenberg as editor. This structure allows the creation of different kind of new articles such as news, videos and editorial long reads.
We also integrated the WooCommerce plugin to guarantee a correct management of The Florentine store and customer area, with an exhaustive dashboard for users to edit any information connected to their accounts, manage purchases downloads and subscriptions renewals, and receive customized offers based on their purchase history.
