Palazzo Medici Riccardi

Palazzo
Medici
Riccardi
is
a
well-structured
and
popular
public
museum
located
in
the
heart
of
Florence.
We
have
created
the
new
website
with
the
goal
of
improving
the
brand
and
making
it
easy
to
navigate
for
all
users
on
any
device.

All
clear
from
the
first
screen

The website has been designed to facilitate easy access to essential information and shortcuts right from the landing page. Visitors can quickly determine the museumโ€™s operational hours and current schedule. With a simple scroll, users can access three prominent call-to-actions and explore relevant sections based on our analysis, including Times and Tickets, Location, and Scheduled Activities.

We opted to utilise the brandโ€™s garnet red as a contrasting colour, the serif Blacker font for the headings, combined with the sans serif Barlow for all remaining written content.

A
megamenu
for
a
great
museum

To assist visitors and tourists in navigating the desktop version of the new website, we have implemented a spacious and easily understood mega menu. The primary sections are presented alongside subpages, whilst the comprehensive search function and upcoming exhibitions are prominently displayed in the banner below.

The
right
place
for
every
exhibition

The inner page of each exhibition, as with the individual activities, presents a desktop layout with two columns for the initial section. Upon scrolling, the title and key information will stay fixed on the right-hand side until the complete scrolling of the left-hand column, where the most significant images and additional details such as types of tickets, schedules, and tour length are provided.

An
accessible
website

The website of a public museum should be easily accessible to all users. To facilitate consulting programming, news or navigating freely, we have streamlined the structure and code for optimal screen reader and keyboard navigation compatibility.

Palazzo
Medici
Riccardi

Palazzo Medici Riccardi was for centuries the official residence of the lords of Florence, the Medici, and later of a wealthy banking family. Today, it is one of the most important and popular public museums in Florence thanks to its central location, spacious and renovated spaces and internationally important programming.
